The Dade County Music Educators Association continues to reflect on the events that have transpired in recent months. DCMEA honors and values the incredible diversity found in Miami-Dade County. We are upset by the perpetuated injustice towards the African-American communities in our nation. Social inequality, injustice, and violence cannot be tolerated.
To the teachers and students in our Black communities throughout Miami-Dade, know that DCMEA sees you, hears you, and supports you in your struggles. We are with you through these extremely hard times and we will be here with you when the storm has passed. United together we can do better and we will do better to support our Black communities, put an end to discrimination, and push for equality.
UPDATED: Information for the 2020-2021 Superintendent Honors Showcase is now available!
How is it different this year?
In previous years, students would go through an audition process for an ensemble and then attend rehearsals to put on a final concert. This year, a teacher can submit a video of their students performing to meet one of the general categories listed in the documents found here. Submitting that video will result in STEAM credit for your school (Please note k8 centers that offer both Elementary and Middle School Music programs must make one submission for Elementary and one submission for Secondary). The videos must meet the criteria in the documents in order for credit to be received. Judges will review the video submissions, evaluate them, and finalists will be selected and streamed in a virtual showcase.
