PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
List of National, State, and District Music Education Associations and Component Groups
The following list is provided for your information only. Becoming a member of your professional music education associations provides you with benefits such as subscriptions to music education magazines and journals, opportunities to attend professional development conferences, networking with fellow colleagues, opportunities for your students to audition for All-State Ensembles, and Music Performance Assessment opportunities for your secondary-level groups and the district and/or state Associations are organized at the National, State, and District Level. When you become a member of the Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA), you also become a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). The Florida Bandmasters Association, Florida Vocal Association, Florida Orchestra Association, and Florida Elementary Music Education Association are component groups and fall under the umbrella of FMEA; membership for these groups is separate, and can be set-up when you become an FMEA member. Each component group is then split up into Districts across the state of Florida, which organize and run the Music Performance Assessments at the District level (secondary-level only).
